Introducing The New Design!

May some of you were wondering Where was I?! since I didn’t blog from 2 weeks ago!

Well I was too busy designing my UNIQUE theme..and as you can see this is the result!
Maybe it`s not very professional but I`m so glad that I designed it from scratch. I started my design in photoshop then tried to find ways and tricks to make all of it rounded!

First I found a great tool which is a JavaScript that do the job the Script is called CurvyCorners honestly it`s a great tool but I can’t depend on it since anybody who disable JS will not view my blog correctly as all boxes will appear like rectangles(sharp edges).

So I found another way which is a free template that uses a rounded edges. this is the template that inspired me. The concept is simple…four rounded GIF pictures that placed in the edges and here you go!

My design is inspired by a lot of templates such as Open Source Web Design, Broken Kode, Tubetorial..and some of the content are inspired from the default theme and from PressRow and others.

Still think that I need to work on my color scheme just like my links, main content, sidebar and headers colors..and I`m think of redesigning the sidebar and make it just one color just like my main content although it`s cool as it`s now!

The Comment section is fine and I think it don’t need modification and the Idea of putting the “Related Entries and Bookmarks..etc” in a box under the content is cool, I think, but still not sure about my color selection :s
Anyway, I`m still very happy of what I done!

Questions For You:

-Do you like my new theme?!
-what should I change?!
-Do you have a cool idea that you want me to add to my theme?!

All, I can say is wow! I’ve never seen anything like this. I’m definitely going to chose your site for the next Pimp My Blog Episode.

What I like is even though the colours kind of bring the readability down, it makes readers focus on the sections.

I love what you’ve done with the banners. They look really cool. In fact all the sections look cool. You will definitely ‘hold’ people on your pages for longer as they look around.

Are you going to release this?

Damn, I wish you’d told me yesterday as we could have pimped you this week!

    Thanks Everton! :)

Yes this is why I asked you for a pump! I believe that the main content font color is a little bit noisy..and I don’t know which color to choose or if I need to change the background color of the main post content.
Anyway let`s wait till the next pump :)
And I think that the rounded corners are giving each section a special look that make reader focus on that section.

Are you going to release this?

I don’t know, maybe but first I want to finish this design completely and this I`ll consider that in mind.

I think you should as I realised releasing a theme is a good way to increase PR - imagine getting potentially thousands of sites linking to you……

nice coloring! I would reduce a little bit the base font and maybe try with arial/helvetica.
    cool!

The theme is really good in the sense that you have made from it scratch

    Nice effort

but i think at some places the text doesnt blend with the background and its hard to read :)

I’m subscribed to your feed and so seldom drop in.

In some ways the multiple colors do make the site more attractive, however, some of the colors are a little bright on the eyes.

Also I would recommend a dark text on light background as it is easier to read.

    Just my two cents.

I would reduce a little bit the base font and maybe try with arial/helvetica.

    what color do you recommend?

Well Ajay and Saad..I changed the content`s background-color and the font twice and still can’t find a good combination..and this is the best I found.
    what color(exactly) do you prefer?!
BTW I think the categories color is bright on the eyes and i`m thinking of changing it!
    any suggestions? :)

    Thanks all for your comments.

Why not going in for a black on light grey?

  10. admin on January 23rd, 2007 5:51 pm

Hmmm do you mean like the same color of the box bellow the main content (Related Posts-Technorati Tags..etc)

As you can see the black text (”Add this post to one of your favorite social bookmarks….etc”) is hard to read too!
Is this because of the Font type? it`s too thin! :s

  11. Ajay on January 23rd, 2007 6:00 pm

    From what I see,

The text is too cramped out there and the light font on dark color isn’t helping. Also, the blue links don’t look too great on the dark background again.

I was suggesting making the content with a light grey text and black background.

Why not try a shade of blue for the categories box.

  12. admin on January 23rd, 2007 6:20 pm

oh…I thought you are meaning the inverse :)
hmmm so you mean something like my comment style.
well I`ll try different text type and colors with black background

Why not try a shade of blue for the categories box.

Hmmm yeah it`s much better - better for the eye and reduce the number of colors in my blog to nearly 4 colors!
    Nice Idea.

    Last question :)
which font type do you prefer for black background?

  13. Ajay on January 24th, 2007 2:28 am

I usually use Arial, Verdana or Trebuchet MS on my sites. They are available on most computers and fit well.

It’s a good design, With different colors.
but not organized well specially at the top.
& the commands box u can change the font color to confirm with the command box background.

  16. admin on January 25th, 2007 7:35 am

Well Ajay what about now :)
I think the green navigation was the problem and now everything is fine!

It’s a good design, With different colors.

Thanks Bilal, I believe that you mean “comments box” :D
    thanks for your notes!

Wow …good to see you back blogging …and the design looks awesome …

    Yes Madhur I`m back..:)

  17. Ajay on January 25th, 2007 9:53 am

The blue looks a lot better now. The post content still kinda hurts the eye … :(

  18. admin on January 26th, 2007 3:02 pm

Hmmmmm..I donno. I`ll try to find different color otherwise I`ll keep it like that.

  19. Maki on January 27th, 2007 5:00 pm

Thanks for dropping by Dosh Dosh. I love the blog design you have .. I couldn’t find the logo or blog name though.. is it up somewhere?

  20. ilker on January 27th, 2007 7:53 pm

Colors too high contrast and doesn’t suit with each other. Especially the blue + orange text on gray background doesn’t work at all! I also have heard people say it is more straining on the eyes to read white text on black background than vice versa.

Design wise.. you shouldn’t worry too much about rounded corners. They are not an absolute necessity (also buggy on your blog). Just like Maki said, where is the logo/blog name??

  21. ilker on January 27th, 2007 7:54 pm

Seriously.. change it back to GreenIF Template! :)

  22. vibhash on January 28th, 2007 1:33 pm

ilker thanks for your comments and advices..as you know this is my first unique theme, so I`m glad to reach this level..I`ll try to play with it from time to time and make it better.
But I`m not planning to change it back to GreenIF :)

  24. admin on January 28th, 2007 1:44 pm
