I read 2 days ago a nice tip in Blog Herald, on how to stop PDF files to load in your browser. Which sometimes freeze your browser or even crash it!

Amit Agarwal explained with pictures how to disable automatic loading for PDF file in IE, and he lists some Plugins that can do the job for FireFox.

His explanation for IE is correct..and the plugins he offers are also great, but aren’t we use these plugins to avoid browser freeze and slowness?!

Then why should we treat such problem and make another!!
As you know using plugins will effect the spead of FireFox startup as it affects the overall performance for the great browser.

What I want to say is that you don’t need a plugin to do the job!
As FF offers a great features like handling files types..here`s what you need to do:

From Tools > Options > Content

Under “Files Types” click on Manage

Choose the file type you like to handle(in this case pdf) or just search for it!

Click on “Change Action” and a list of actions will appear.

First choice is to open the disered file type with it`s default program(Here Adobe Acrobat)

Second, is to open the file type with other application – your favorite application-

Third, to save it to your Computer (I believe this is the choice all of us will choose!)

And finally, open the file within the browser.

As you can see, this will save you time and keep the performance as it`s, which is better than using Plugins!

You`re not using FireFox….YET!!!!
Today!
